Saturday Morning

Our Saturday mornings are slow moving these days.  The light is shining ever-so brightly through the crack in the curtains, just begging us to go outside, but we refuse.  Ryan usually makes us an omelet, Zia is chasing squirrels in the backyard and Penny, typically, is still asleep in the chair in our living room.  She'll eventually look up at us, as if she's saying loudly that we are interrupting her beauty sleep.  I stay in my pj's well into the afternoon.  We relax.

The weekdays seem so busy these days; I have found myself looking forward to these lazy Saturday mornings where it feels like we have all the time in the world together.

Denver at Night

It's getting dark so early these days.  This is what 5:30 looks like... 5:30!  Daylight savings time always boggles my mind, and body, a little bit.

But with these shots of dusk came dinner at one of the best eateries, Watercourse.  And a date night with my favorite can make anyone forget about the fact that lately, they to go to bed at 7.

Birthday Celebrations

My guy turned the big 2-9 over the weekend!  So we had a little backyard cookout in celebration.  I blew up 29 balloons and put little messages inside each one.  We made burgers and had an ice cream cake.  And Ryan asked all of his friends to bring over a 6 pack to exchange with each other.

Notice the competition down a few houses?  Ryan really wanted to join forces with the princess party.

We played ladder golf and chatted and had a great evening.   Happy Birthday, my love!

2 years

There's no other person I'd like to be exploring this world with; I constantly look at you and our life together and think how did I get so lucky?

Happy wedding anniversary, love.

Boulder Farmer's Market

We enjoyed a rainy, dreary weekend in Denver, which is pretty much my favorite weather.  Especially if it's accompanied by coffee or hot tea while sitting on the patio enjoying the rain.  Mmm, I love it.  And it hardly ever happens here, being the "sunshine state" and all.

Saturday, after I enjoyed my morning coffee on the patio, we made our way to Boulder to pick up a few things from the Farmer's Market, one of the largest in Colorado.  And the street food, holy amazing.

Our loot: 2 tomato plants, 1 jalapeno, 1 rosemary, 1 basil.

We spent the rest of the day exploring the city (and its new Moosejaw store!).  The more time I spend in Boulder, the more I love it.  And conveniently , it's only 30 minutes or so from our apartment.  #win

Oh yeah, and I chopped off all my hair!

Rockies Game

So. Many. People.
Me - SUPER excited.  Ryan - Mildly excited.  That pretty much sums us up.
Beautiful views.  And check out the popcorn seller, he was awesome.
Ryan, and a friend sitting behind, both caught free t-shirts. You know the ones they shoot from a launcher that are always x-large?  Well, Ryan's was an XL and our friends was a S.

My first Colorado Rockies baseball game was a total blast:  I ate bad (good) food, bought a Rockies T, sang "take me out to the ball game", cheered and booed, and had an all around fabulous night.

PARTY Time

Ryan had a great birthday celebration with his friends here in Denver and I only have 4 photos to show for it!  The moment friends arrived and our food and drinks came out, my camera went up, and we just laughed the night away.  After the Cheeky Monk (love this) we walked down the street to a little dive bar to play pool.  Since it was Thursday, and almost everyone had to work on Friday, the boys called it an early night around 11.  It was no Iguana Lounge, but I think Ry had a great first birthday celebration here in Colorado!

Happy Birthday!

Dear Ryan,
I'm so very happy you were born.

Happy birthday love - I can't wait to celebrate with you tonight!

We're Moving!

 We're moving to Denver, CO!

Ryan accepted a perfect-for-him job, so we will be saying goodbye to Oklahoma and helllooooo to Colorado next week!  Can't wait to share with you all the new sights and sounds and smells, our neighborhood, new favorite places to eat and explore, the list goes on and on.  Eeeeeeee!

1 year and counting

And I'll stand on your shoulders
To watch us grow older
I can see us far along the road
As the trail grows deeper
you're my giver my keeper
Laughter for years untold

It's a date

Ryan and I went on a little date last night...
to Barnes & Noble.

First stop: Gardening
Second stop: Young Adult

Check out this book cover!  It's vellum!  How can you not judge a book by it's cover when it's this awesome?

There's my date!  And Moby-Duck which I heard about on NPR last week.
We had a really good time. (I feel a little guilty for not buying anything!)

Note:  All photos secretly taken with my Iphone.  We were not about to get kicked out like this crazy lady!  Ha!

Our Engagement

Last year, on New Years Eve, Ryan proposed to spend the rest of my life with him.  We don't have photos or video of the actual proposal, but it went something like this...

He asked,
My hands found their way to my face, the way all girls seem to respond to the good news.
I cried.  A lot.  And was overcome with emotions.
He laughed.  And smiled.  And love poured out of his heart.
I accepted.
He put the most beautiful ring on my finger.
We hugged.  And kissed.  And hugged some more.

The biggest smiles we've ever seen

Once we arrived to our New Year's Eve party, I called my out-of-state best friends (cried some more), mom & dad, and then celebrated... x 100!

I've prayed for my husband since I was a teenager and I'm so very thankful God took care of him all this time for me.

Happy New Year's Eve!
All my love.

A (tad blurry) Fancy Date

It doesn't happen often, but every now and then we go on a "fancy date"...and sneak photos with our Iphones.

The Chalkboard

We have a special place near the kitchen to write notes, to do lists, and other daily tidbits to each other.

Right now, lyrics from one of my favorite songs:

And for visitors to write us notes as well...

It's a small part of our home, but something I look forward to reading (or writing on) all the time.

Honeymoon Journal

We kept up with journaling until the 4th day of our honeymoon, it was packed in a suitcase for the next stop of the road trip adventure, and never brought back out again!  None the less, I kept everything from the trip -- receipts, hotel keys, In-N-Out burger hats, and winery advertisements to make up for the lost entries.  I'm slowly piecing it all together (and thoroughly enjoying telling ryan "remember when...!" as if it was years ago).

Let's PARTY!

What a great birthday celebration at Iguana Lounge last night.

Lakeside Times

We're back!

One of the highlights from our trip to Denver was an old amusement park that truly made me feel like a little kid again.  The "Cyclone Coaster" was hands down my favorite rides and I found out later it was a top 10 coaster featured on Discovery Channel (probably 50 years ago, but hey, it's still a landmark).  I rode it 3 times.  We met some new people, ate junky food, and laughed and laughed and laughed.  Oh, and I'm the skee ball champion.  I won a spider ring.
